An air gauge is a material that is attached to the air tank for when the tank needs to be filled with air. The gauge will work when the air is being filled in that the gauge will read out the pressure level that the air that is being used is at. This is important because many train horns will only be able to work at certain air pressure levels and in some cases may not be able to handle some higher pressure levels.
One of the gauges can work in one of two ways. The first type is a standard single needle gauge that lists the pressure level of the air that is being pumped through the use of a needle. Although many of these gauges can be accurate there is always the concern that the needle may break or wear out in its ability to give an accurate air pressure reading over time.
The second type is a digital gauge that lists the pressure level through a digital listing that is very accurate. The digital gauge is generally going to be more expensive because of how this is more accurate than a typical single needle gauge and is easier to read.
When looking for one of these parts for a train horn it will be important to look into how high of a level of pressure the gauge will be able to read. Some single needle gauges will work for up to 160psi but digital gauges can read pressure levels of 220psi or greater. Do you home work before buying parts for your train horn for trucks or cars.
